Math-Science Quest for Solutions

The Math-Science Quest for Solutions provides an opportunity for teachers around  the world to enable their students to use experimental science to cope with challenging puzzles in elementary mathematics.  Research teams of students participate in weekly competition in MSQ; they plan and conduct programs of experimental research to seek out solutions to the problems posed.  Participants design experiments, perform them, and analyze the results both to find solutions and to determine what further experiments will be useful.

Proposed solutions by team members and experiments by teams are uploaded to MSQ on the Internet each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; evaluations and results of experiments and scores for them are provided immediately to individuals and teams.  To see an example of the kind of problems and research involved access Classroom Puzzle 1E.

The puzzles are also available in a form that individual adults and youngsters can deal with outside the classroom. The same puzzle for individuals is available as  Individual Puzzle 1E.
